From the problem to a validated prototype

The problem this module addresses

The costliest waste in the public sector is not the system that runs late. It is the system that arrives on time and nobody uses, because the problem was declared by one person and validated by none. Testing first costs days. Finding out later costs years of contract.

Content

  • Stage 1. Framing the problem: deep understanding of the pain points, with all relevant actors.
  • Stage 2. Solution thesis: prioritising features and scoping the first cycle.
  • Stage 3. Prototyping: making the idea tangible as a navigable artefact.
  • Stage 4. User testing: validation before code, with a script and a record.

Design Thinking, Lean Inception and Design Sprint, adapted to the cycle and the constraints of the public sector.

  • A prioritised backlogAn ordered list by value and risk, ready to become procurement scope.
  • A sprint decision recordWho decided what, and on which evidence.
